Gold (metal)
Gold is a precious metal and is rich yellow in colour. The gold used in the jewellery trade consists of an alloy with one or several other metals. This increases its rigidity.
The colour will vary according to the alloys used. Even as an alloy, gold remains a soft metal and over time it can become marked. For that reason, items in gold have to be handled with care.
White gold (metal)
White gold is an alloy of gold and silver or gold and palladium.
Red gold (metal)
Red gold consists of an alloy with copper. It is often confused with pink gold, which is also an alloy with copper but to a lesser degree.
